What’s the #1 reason to study the flute at Tribeca Music?
Our instructors are warm and friendly, and get to know each student and parent on a personal level. We work with each individual or parent to craft a lesson plan that fits the student’s unique needs and favorite type of music. Whether you're a seven year old taking their first lesson, or a fifty year old returning to music lessons after many years, our teachers will share their love for the flute and help you set goals to achieve your musical aspirations.
How qualified are Tibeca Music’s flute instructors?
Our faculty have received their musical education from prestigious institutions such as New York University, Mannes School of Music, and Oberlin Conservatory of Music. Each teacher has years of professional performance experience, formal training, years of teaching experience of all ages, and specialized knowledge of a large range of musical styles.
What will I learn from flute lessons at Tribeca Music?
Students will start with the basics such as proper tone production, hand position, finger placement, and breath support. Intermediate and advanced students will further advance their studies through both technical studies and while learning significant repertoire within a variety of styles and genres. All of our lessons include instruction on music theory, notation, and rhythm while students explore classical music, popular music, and jazz!
Do I have to know how to read music?
No. Beginners are welcome!
Do I need to purchase a flute to learn the instrument?
Yes, to practice at home, you will need to have an instrument available.
What styles of flute do you teach?
We teach all styles from classical to contemporary.
How long does it take to learn to play the flute?
There is no set answer of how long it takes to learn to play. With regular practice, a basic level of playing can be accomplished in a few months. Most of our students take lessons on a long-term basis because they want to be constantly improving and they find the lessons enjoyable.
Are there recitals?
Absolutely! Every December and June, our students have the opportunity to perform in world class recital halls throughout NYC. Unlike most of our competitors, we do not charge students a fee to perform. And admission is free, so you can invite all of your family and friends.
At Tribeca Music we offer more than flute lessons! We are proud to offer many popular instruments with expert teachers. This makes it convenient for students who wish to study more than one instrument, or for siblings within a family who want to pursue different instruments.
