After a year of virtual lessons, I am so proud of these students for their hard work, consistent focus, dedication, and advanced musicality. Playing piano is about making beautiful music, and it also has so many amazing “side-effects” on a student’s life. We learn how to pay precise attention to detail, commit to something through its challenges, and work on achieving our personal goals. Despite a year of a global pandemic, our students have stayed committed, resilient, and focused! 💪

How to achieve an Outstanding NYSSMA competition score, based on judge’s requirements:

• Steady tempo (practice with the metronome 😉)

• Play musically with dynamics and follow the articulation markings like legato (connected) and staccato (detached)

• Precise and accurate notes!

• Proper technique - lift wrists, curve fingers...

• Stage presence - dress professionally, sit up tall with confidence

• Interpretation - engage with the piece in a personal way, showing you are invested in the quality of tone and your performance ✨
